Madrid SER Zone, timetable, green zone, blue zone, blue zone

Parked cars in the streets of Madrid in orange and blue lines.

Every time we want to move around Madrid we have the same doubts: Should I take my car or not? Will I find a parking space? How much will it cost? Or how long and where will I be able to leave my car parked on public roads?

If you don't live in Madrid and you have to travel to the city centre. If you are one of those Madrilenians who don't go out without your vehicle, don't move and take note! Because we are going to give you the keys to the regulated parking zones (SER) that currently exist in Madrid, their timetables and prices. This way, you can leave your car parked with complete peace of mind and safe from the inconvenient fines imposed by the City Council.

What are SER zones and what are they for?

Also called “regulated parking zones”.”, SER zones are perimeters delimited in cities for the parking of vehicles under certain established rules and prices, with the aim of keeping cities tidy and with less traffic and pollution. Thus, although these zones traditionally began to be in operation in areas of very high demand, In the case of the city centre, the fight to reduce traffic and encourage the use of public transport has led to the extension of the system to other more peripheral areas, such as the Madrid district of Ciudad Lineal, and others will be added over time.

This parking regulation has made it possible to traffic congestion to be relieved in already high traffic areas, The aim is for everyone to be able to go to these points to carry out formalities or at specific times without accessibility problems for other citizens or residents.

Regulated parking zones in Madrid

In many municipalities in Spain there is a ordinance regulating parking, known as ORA. These are designated parking areas where the user must first purchase a ticket and place it visibly on his or her car. Specifically in Madrid it is called SER and there are several types depending on the colour of the stripes painted on the road. Most of them are inside the M-30 ring road, although in recent years they have also been placed in some less central streets.
