This red public transport card is used to get around Madrid. With the introduction of the new cards, locals and tourists arriving in the city are obliged to purchase one of the two existing cards, depending on their intended use.
Users can check the balance available on their transport card at any time. How can they do this? Very easy, the easiest way is to use the official app “Tarjeta Transporte Público del Consorcio de Transportes de Madrid” (Android and iOS), where you can check your remaining journeys. It also allows you to top up tickets and show your Virtual Card without plastic on more than 200 NFC-enabled phones. The ATMs with top-up service are now those of the CaixaBank network.

Multi Card balance enquiry
It came into operation on 1 January 2018 to replace the 10-trip paper magnetic ticket. The Multi Card is not personalised and you can top up single journeys, 10 journeys or the tourist card. It costs 2.50 euros. The balance of this card can be checked at all points of sale. (automatic machines, tobacconists and Caixabank ATMs) and now, in addition, in the Tarjeta Transporte Público app, where you can check the number of journeys available.
Consult the balance of the Madrid Public Transport Card : Madrid Transport Season Ticket Balance

It is very similar to the previous one, but this one is personal and contains your name, surname, a photograph of the user and an identification number for the card. To check the balance of the Tarjeta de Transporte Público you have to enter your personal number, which is on the top of the card.
When does my card expire?
Another new feature is that by accessing the balance enquiry and entering your personal number, you can check the expiry date of your transport card.
This way we will leave home more relaxed, with the security of knowing how to move around Madrid.
