Keep your wallet safe because !<strong>Madrid free is<\/strong> Are you ready?<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Free museums<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It is perhaps the tourist part that takes the biggest budget. Unlike other European cities where you don't have to pay to see the national heritage, here you have to pay beforehand. Fortunately, however, there are times when you can save on entrance fees. If you want to visit its rooms and admire its spectacular art gallery, you can do so for free during the last two hours before it closes. <strong>Weekdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.<\/strong> and the <strong>Sundays and public holidays from 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.<\/strong>. It is also free on International Museum Day, <strong>18 May and 19 November <\/strong>which celebrates the museum's anniversary. Other free admission options offered by the Prado are for the under 18s, students between 18 and 25, the over 65s, the disabled, the unemployed and all accredited teaching staff. Please be aware of the queues at the entrance - patience is recommended!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Reina Sof\u00eda Museum <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.museoreinasofia.es\/\">To this contemporary art centre<\/a> can be accessed without paying all the <strong>Monday to Saturday from 19 to 21 h<\/strong> and the <strong>Sundays, from 1.30pm to 7pm<\/strong>. There are also other days with free admission<strong>18 and 19 April<\/strong>, <strong>18 May<\/strong>, <strong>12 October<\/strong> y <strong>6 December<\/strong>. The special categories that do not pay are the same as in the Prado. Remember that the museum is closed on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Although the entrance fee is 10 \u20ac, you can access to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.museothyssen.org\/\">the permanent collection for free<\/a>, all <strong>Mondays from 12 to 16.00 h.<\/strong> Temporary exhibitions are not included. Free admission is also available any day of the year to children under 18, unemployed persons and members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sorolla Museum<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In the heart of the Chamber\u00ed district you will find<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mecd.gob.es\/msorolla\/inicio.html\"> the house museum of the brilliant Valencian painter.<\/a> Admission is only \u20ac3 but there is also the possibility to do it for free. The s<strong>Saturdays from 2 p.m.<\/strong>, all <strong>on Sundays,<\/strong> on <strong>18 May<\/strong>, the <strong>12 October<\/strong>, the <strong>16 November,<\/strong> which is World Heritage Day and <strong>6 December<\/strong>. The categories that can benefit from free admission are those under 18 years of age, members of the International Council of Museums and Friends of the Fundaci\u00f3n Museo Sorolla.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Lope de Vega House Museum <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This playwright of the Spanish Golden Age spent the last 25 years of his life in Cervantes Street in the district of Las Letras. <a href=\"http:\/\/casamuseolopedevega.org\/es\/\">It is a three-storey house with a garden,<\/a> unknown to many people. To visit it, it is essential to book in advance. Admission is always free and the visit is accompanied by a guide who explains all the details of the life and work of this poet.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>San Fernando Fine Arts Museum <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It is possible to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realacademiabellasartessanfernando.com\/es\/museo\">free access to this art gallery<\/a> all the <strong>Wednesdays, not public holidays,<\/strong> the <strong>18 May<\/strong>, the<strong> 12 October <\/strong>and the <strong>6 December. <\/strong>Children under 18 years old, over 65 years old, retired and unemployed people do not pay either.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>L\u00e1zaro Galdiano Museum <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flg.es\/\">If you want to get to know this beautiful museum<\/a> without paying the 6 \u20ac entrance fee, you have to present yourself from <strong>15.30 to 16.30 from Monday to Saturday.<\/strong> The <strong>Sundays is from 14 to 15h<\/strong>. Getting to know our culture from prehistoric times is a privilege that can also be accessed free of charge. All the <strong>Saturdays from 2 p.m.<\/strong>. the <strong>Sunday mornings<\/strong>, in addition to the <strong>18 April<\/strong>, <strong>18 May<\/strong>, <strong>12 October<\/strong> or the <strong>Constitution Day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Museum of Romanticism <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Adentrarte <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mecd.gob.es\/mromanticismo\/inicio.\"> in the Romantic era in Spain during the 19th century<\/a> is possible thanks to its unique museum. Access is free on Saturdays and Sundays.<strong>Saturdays from 2 p.m.<\/strong>, the <strong>18 May,<\/strong> on <strong>12 October,<\/strong> on <strong>16 November<\/strong> and the <strong>6 December<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Museum of America <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you are a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mecd.gob.es\/museodeamerica\/el-museo.html\">in love with pre-Columbian culture<\/a> you have to come and visit it. Although the entrance fee is only 3 euros, you can save it. <strong>every Sunday of the year<\/strong>, the <strong>18 April<\/strong>, the <strong>18 May<\/strong>, the <strong>12 October <\/strong>and the <strong>6 December. <\/strong>All the special categories of the other museums also apply, with free admission for the unemployed, under 18s, university students, Youth Card holders and large families.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Costume Museum <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Although it is a little out of the centre of Madrid (in the Ciudad Universitaria area), it is well worth a visit to this museum, which organises temporary exhibitions and activities related to fashion. It is open to the public free of charge, <strong>Saturdays from 2.30 p.m. onwards <\/strong>y <strong>every Sunday<\/strong>, the <strong>18 April<\/strong>, the <strong>18 May<\/strong>, the <strong>12 October <\/strong>and the <strong>6 December. <\/strong>Admission is free for children under 18 and over 65, students, youth card holders, people with disabilities, the unemployed, pensioners and large families. There are also other special categories such as teaching staff, journalists, official tourist guides, members of ICOM or the Friends of the Museum Association, among others.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Museum of Music<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Located in <a href=\"http:\/\/rcsmm.eu\/museo\/?m=9\">the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid<\/a>, This museum displays a good collection of antique instruments, scores, methods and objects related to music. Fixed or temporary, throughout the year we can go to various venues to soak up culture in any format. All you have to do is keep an eye on the calendar on the date that suits you best. Here are the main centres in the capital that you can visit free of charge.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Mapfre Foundation <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In the middle of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionmapfre.org\/fundacion\/es_es\/\">Paseo de Recoletos is the location of this institution.<\/a> which opens its doors free of charge <strong>on Mondays (except public holidays) from 14.00 to 20.00h<\/strong>. You can see its permanent exhibition on Mir\u00f3 or the current temporary exhibition on the great Hungarian photographer Brassa\u00ef. Free admission is also available for children under 16, the unemployed, official tourist guides, accredited journalists, ICOM members and the disabled with an accompanying person.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>La Caixa Cultural and Social Centre <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/caixaforum.es\/es\/madrid\/exposiciones\">activities and exhibitions all year round<\/a>, The centre only has free admission on certain days of the year: <strong>15, 16, 18 May and 9 November<\/strong>. Children under 16 and customers of La Caixa are free of charge.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Conde Duque Cultural Centre <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It is currently one of the centres where the most important <a href=\"https:\/\/www.condeduquemadrid.es\/\">activities and of the most varied kind<\/a>Theatre, cinema, workshops, exhibitions, concerts, colloquiums...admission is usually free for most events and in summer they have a large outdoor programme under the name of Veranos de la Villa.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Canal Isabel II Foundation <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacioncanal.com\/\">This cultural space<\/a> is located next to the Plaza de Castilla. It is the old water lifting station from the beginning of the 20th century. The opening hours to visit the canal headquarters are as follows <strong>Monday to Friday, from 11am to 8pm, <\/strong>except on Wednesdays, when it closes at 3pm. The foundation also organises many cultural activities related to the environment and art. Many of the exhibitions are free of charge. It is best to take a look at their website beforehand to find out which ones are free of charge.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>La Casa Encendida <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It is one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lacasaencendida.es\/exposiciones\">Madrid's most dynamic social and cultural centres<\/a>. Open to all audiences, it offers a wide variety of activities: exhibitions, cinema and theatre, concerts or subsidised courses and workshops in four areas: culture, environment, solidarity and education. Exhibitions are free and other events are very affordable. The centre is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Monuments and Points of Interest<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To get to know Madrid is to stroll through such emblematic neighbourhoods as the Austrias, La Latina, Lavapi\u00e9s, Malasa\u00f1a and the Barrio de las Letras. Here we find the main points of interest in the city to visit. There is a free schedule of visits in summer and another one in winter. <strong>From October to March, admission is free from 4 to 6 p.m. every day of the week. <\/strong>While from <strong> April to September is from 18 to 20h. <\/strong>There are long queues, but it's worth the wait. You can also see the spectacular <strong>Change of the Royal Guard<\/strong> every Wednesday and Saturday, except during July, August and September and on days when an official event is taking place or the weather prevents it. You can also attend <strong>The Solemn Changing of the Royal Guard<\/strong> on the first Wednesday of every month at 12 noon. Two curious events that are also free of charge.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Cibeles viewpoint <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Climbing up to the roof of the Palacio de Cibeles normally costs 2 euros, but if you do it on <strong>first Wednesday of the month<\/strong> is free of charge. Also on<strong> 2 and 15 May and 12 October<\/strong>. It is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm and from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm. Remember that it is closed on Mondays and some public holidays such as 1 and 6 January and from 24 to 26 December. You will enjoy breathtaking views of the city. At your feet the Cibeles and the axis of Calle Alcal\u00e1 with the Paseo de Recoletos and the Prado. It is well worth going up at sunset to this singular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.madridactiva.es\/en\/madrid-summer-terraces\/\">terrace in the centre of Madrid<\/a>, The pictures look spectacular!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Puerta del Sol <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It is the biggest meeting point for the people of Madrid. Next to the most famous clock building in Spain is the most photographed spot in Madrid: <strong>on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.madridactiva.es\/en\/kilometro-cero-madrid-puerta-del-sol\/\">Kilometre Zero<\/a><\/strong>. Immortalising your feet on this plaque that marks the origin of the six national roads from the capital is free. The old Chamber\u00ed station or And\u00e9n 0, which is preserved as it was at the beginning of the 20th century, is a great place to visit and it's also free. It is open Thursdays from 10am to 1pm, Fridays from 11am to 7pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 3pm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Free concerts<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I'm sure you've already walked all over the city without paying anything. Now it's time for a little rest and what better way to do it than listening to music. If you're a lover of classical music, you can do so at the <a href=\"http:\/\/rcsmm.eu\/\">Conservatory of Music<\/a>, which is next to Atocha.
